Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. Requires 4MB ST-RAM and an RGB or VGA monitor. -- Nadine Larsson SupraFAXModem 28.8 @ 33,600 bps "When every node is whole, the channel opens." Too bad Atari marketing was so incompetent that nobody bought the Falcon before they pulled out of the computer market. -- Ines Eriksson "Row 14. No joke." The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent. Zero CPU overhead during 50 kHz audio acquisition. -- Tyler Kim -- Oxford University Computing Laboratory "Measuring a record you own is listening, not piracy."
