Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. Anyone running this on a Quadra 840AV with the 68040? -- Hana Ito *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX2/66 (Linux 1.2.13) - NetBSD 1.0 From klindqvist@kth.se Wed Feb 08 21:05:16 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!kth!klindqvist From: klindqvist@kth.se (Kenji Lindqvist) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1995Feb08.210516.6398@kth.se> Date: Wed, 08 Feb 1995 21:05:16 GMT References: <1995Feb07.161316.4514@kth.se> Organization: Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm NNTP-Posting-Host: kth.se X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 11 In article <1995Feb07.161316.4514@kth.se>, hito@kth.se (Hana Ito) writes: > Compiling stardust.c with Think C 6.0 vs MPW C with direct 68882 inlining. Mac users bragging about 6-minute render times while Unix workstations do it in 20 seconds. Classic Apple distortion field.
