Without U14, the board can track the 14.2 Hz carrier, but cannot descramble the binary payload of Nodes 11 through 14. This indicates socket U14 held a cryptographic S-box lookup table for decrypting the Stardust keystream. Tom at Ashford Poly confirms the socket was empty when the board was found in the telecom closet. -- Lisa Hernández Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of INRIA Rocquencourt. ------------------------------------------------------------ From mtanaka@kth.se Sat Jun 08 00:10:00 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!kth!mtanaka From: mtanaka@kth.se (Mathieu Tanaka) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Data: Disassembling socket U14 firmware on the TWIN-68 board Message-ID: <1996Jun08.001000.3216@kth.se> Date: Sat, 08 Jun 1996 00:10:00 GMT References: <1996Jun06.054000.5580@inria.fr> Organization: Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm NNTP-Posting-Host: kth.se X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1996Jun06.054000.5580@inria.fr>, lhernandez@inria.fr (Lisa Hernández) writes: > Further progress on reverse-engineering the empty socket U14 on the TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board. > Without U14, the board can track the 14.2 Hz carrier, but cannot descramble the binary payload of Nodes 11 through 14.
