This indicates socket U14 held a cryptographic S-box lookup table for decrypting the Stardust keystream. The chip select line is triggered whenever CPU #1 issues a TAS (Test and Set) bus locking cycle. Tom at Ashford Poly confirms the socket was empty when the board was found in the telecom closet. -- Mathieu Suzuki *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX2/66 (Linux 1.2.13) - NetBSD 1.0 From lrobertson@uu.net Sat Dec 24 04:42:41 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!uu!lrobertson From: lrobertson@uu.net (Lars Robertson) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Disassembling socket U14 firmware on the TWIN-68 board Message-ID: <1994Dec24.044241.8571@uu.net> Date: Sat, 24 Dec 1994 04:42:41 GMT References: <1994Dec22.084441.3447@delphi.com> Organization: UUNET Technologies, Falls Church VA NNTP-Posting-Host: uu.net X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1994Dec22.084441.3447@delphi.com>, msuzuki@delphi.com (Mathieu Suzuki) writes: > Tracing the address decoder lines on the motherboard reveals what was supposed to be in socket U14. > This indicates socket U14 held a cryptographic S-box lookup table for decrypting the Stardust keystream.
