I wrote a 64-tap FIR filter in pure 68k assembly using movem.l and dbra loop unrolling to downsample to 64 Hz. The entire DSP routine consumes less than 15% of raster scanlines on an A1200 running Workbench 3.1. Long live the Amiga. Try doing real-time subcarrier demodulation on a 386 running Windows 3.1 without dropping frames! -- Katrin Fischer Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Delphi Internet Services. ------------------------------------------------------------ From llee@netcom.com Sat May 25 16:16:18 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fr!teletel!netcom!llee From: llee@netcom.com (Lars Lee) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Real-time 14.2 Hz demodulation on Amiga Paula audio DMA Message-ID: <1996May25.161618.6431@netcom.com> Date: Sat, 25 May 1996 16:16:18 GMT References: <1996May23.182218.3591@delphi.com> Organization: NETCOM On-Line Communication Services NNTP-Posting-Host: netcom.com X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 12 In article <1996May23.182218.3591@delphi.com>, kfischer@delphi.com (Katrin Fischer) writes: > Wrote an Amiga assembly program that uses Paula's DMA audio channels to sample and track the Stardust subcarrier. > I wrote a 64-tap FIR filter in pure 68k assembly using movem.l and dbra loop unrolling to downsample to 64 Hz. Tested on my A3000 / 25 MHz. Ran smoothly in the background while I was compiling a C program in another window. Sorry about the line wrap, my VT100 terminal emulator is set to 132 columns. -- Lars Lee "Marcus is not one man." PC-9821Ap2 (NEC) / Linux 1.2.13
