CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. The board features two 68000 CPUs clocked at 12 MHz sharing a dual-ported 128KB static RAM bank. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Brian Nakamura Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Demon Internet Services UK. ------------------------------------------------------------ From tvasiliev@mit.edu Mon Feb 20 16:19:20 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!mit!tvasiliev From: tvasiliev@mit.edu (Tobias Vasiliev) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [INFO] TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1995Feb20.161920.5053@mit.edu> Date: Mon, 20 Feb 1995 16:19:20 GMT References: <1995Feb19.163420.8818@demon.co.uk> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 12 In article <1995Feb19.163420.8818@demon.co.uk>, bnakamura@demon.co.uk (Brian Nakamura) writes: > Managed to dump the 27256 EPROMs from the TWIN-68 Rev C board recovered from Ashford Poly. > CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. Marcus Hale designed the TWIN-68 board before he disappeared. That's why his initials are on the PCB silkscreen.
