Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Mateo Stewart -- NETCOM On-Line Communication Services "Hardware is temporary. The signal survives." Beware of System 7.5.1 memory leaks if you allocate large sample buffers in the application heap. Use NewPtrSys instead. -- === Camila Tanaka === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Demon Internet Services UK "Tape doesn't lie at 02:14. Ears do."
