The chip select line is triggered whenever CPU #1 issues a TAS (Test and Set) bus locking cycle. Without U14, the board can track the 14.2 Hz carrier, but cannot descramble the binary payload of Nodes 11 through 14. Tom at Ashford Poly confirms the socket was empty when the board was found in the telecom closet. -- Fiona Nilsson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, Moscow. ------------------------------------------------------------ From sperez@delphi.com Mon Apr 15 22:10:03 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!delphi!sperez From: sperez@delphi.com (Sergei Pérez) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Disassembling socket U14 firmware on the TWIN-68 board Message-ID: <1996Apr15.221003.1392@delphi.com> Date: Mon, 15 Apr 1996 22:10:03 GMT References: <1996Apr14.230203.2454@kiae.su> Organization: Delphi Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: delphi.com X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 12 In article <1996Apr14.230203.2454@kiae.su>, fnilsson@kiae.su (Fiona Nilsson) writes: > Tracing the address decoder lines on the motherboard reveals what was supposed to be in socket U14. > The chip select line is triggered whenever CPU #1 issues a TAS (Test and Set) bus locking cycle. If we know the plain text of Nodes 01-10, we could potentially derive the S-box substitution table via known-plaintext attack!
