Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. Anyone running this on a Quadra 840AV with the 68040? -- Sergei Fischer Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Tokyo Department of Information Science. ------------------------------------------------------------ From nreyes@ox.ac.uk Wed Jun 07 08:16:48 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!ox!nreyes From: nreyes@ox.ac.uk (Nadia Reyes) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [FLAME] Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1995Jun07.081648.3890@ox.ac.uk> Date: Wed, 07 Jun 1995 08:16:48 GMT References: <1995Jun06.102248.2515@u-tokyo.ac.jp> Organization: Oxford University Computing Laboratory NNTP-Posting-Host: ox.ac.uk X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 9 In article <1995Jun06.102248.2515@u-tokyo.ac.jp>, sfischer@u-tokyo.ac.jp (Sergei Fischer) writes: > Can a 1989 Mac IIci decode a 40-minute LP in reasonable time?
