Motorola engineers, please take a look. Disassembling ROM #0 reveals an initialization routine that checks for a hardware dongle marked 'ORION-ENC-84'. At ROM offset 0x0909, the string 'M.H. // THE HATCH IS OPEN // ADVANCED ACOUSTICS LAB' is stored in ASCII. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Andrei Reyes Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of UC Berkeley Department of EECS. ------------------------------------------------------------ From esuzuki@u-tokyo.ac.jp Mon Dec 02 23:03:20 1996 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!u-tokyo!esuzuki From: esuzuki@u-tokyo.ac.jp (Emi Suzuki) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1996Dec02.230320.3522@u-tokyo.ac.jp> Date: Mon, 02 Dec 1996 23:03:20 GMT References: <1996Dec02.152020.3478@berkeley.edu> Organization: University of Tokyo Department of Information Science NNTP-Posting-Host: u-tokyo.ac.jp X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 8 In article <1996Dec02.152020.3478@berkeley.edu>, areyes@berkeley.edu (Andrei Reyes) writes: > Looking at the bus architecture of the TWIN-68 board. Tom from Ashford Poly owns the physical board! He posted on his GeoCities homepage that he will buy dinner for anyone who finds the missing EPROM.
