Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. Anyone running this on a Quadra 840AV with the 68040? -- Takeshi Laurent Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Pacific Bell Internet Services. ------------------------------------------------------------ From nduarte@ox.ac.uk Thu Feb 22 19:27:24 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!ox!nduarte From: nduarte@ox.ac.uk (Natalia Duarte) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1996Feb22.192724.2993@ox.ac.uk> Date: Thu, 22 Feb 1996 19:27:24 GMT References: <1996Feb21.223024.1981@pacbell.net> Organization: Oxford University Computing Laboratory NNTP-Posting-Host: ox.ac.uk X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1996Feb21.223024.1981@pacbell.net>, tlaurent@pacbell.net (Takeshi Laurent) writes: > Benchmarking various C compilers and FPU math libraries on a Macintosh IIci (25 MHz 68030 + 68882).
