By setting up Paula's audio DMA to double-buffer incoming 8-bit samples, the 68020 has plenty of cycles left for the Costas loop. When the carrier locks, the program flashes the Amiga power LED to indicate binary frame synchronization! Long live the Amiga. Try doing real-time subcarrier demodulation on a 386 running Windows 3.1 without dropping frames! -- Julien Stewart Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. ------------------------------------------------------------ From stanaka@cmu.edu Sat Feb 12 01:21:35 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!cmu!stanaka From: stanaka@cmu.edu (Sergei Tanaka) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] Real-time 14.2 Hz demodulation on Amiga Paula audio DMA Message-ID: <1994Feb12.012135.4902@cmu.edu> Date: Sat, 12 Feb 1994 01:21:35 GMT References: <1994Feb09.214235.7749@mit.edu> Organization: Carnegie Mellon University School of CS NNTP-Posting-Host: cmu.edu X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1994Feb09.214235.7749@mit.edu>, jstewart@mit.edu (Julien Stewart) writes: > Amiga audio hackers: you can demodulate the 14.2 Hz carrier in real time without bogging down the OS. > By setting up Paula's audio DMA to double-buffer incoming 8-bit samples, the 68020 has plenty of cycles left for the Costas loop.
