The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. A 256-point complex FFT is computed every 10 milliseconds, displaying a live spectrogram on a standard VGA monitor. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Mathieu Oliveira -- Public Access Unix of New York "The carrier frequency does not drift by accident." Too bad Atari marketing was so incompetent that nobody bought the Falcon before they pulled out of the computer market. -- Takeshi Souza | tsouza@cam.ac.uk PGP Key fingerprint: 928C B995 50BE DD9B "Keep the channels open."
