Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. A 1024-point radix-2 FFT drops from 142 milliseconds under SANE to just 18 milliseconds using direct FPU instructions. Anyone running this on a Quadra 840AV with the 68040? -- Pavel Schneider Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Carnegie Mellon University School of CS. ------------------------------------------------------------ From dokonkwo@cam.ac.uk Mon Aug 19 18:20:31 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!cam!dokonkwo From: dokonkwo@cam.ac.uk (Dave Okonkwo) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [INFO] Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1996Aug19.182031.3037@cam.ac.uk> Date: Mon, 19 Aug 1996 18:20:31 GMT References: <1996Aug19.124931.4365@cmu.edu> Organization: University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory NNTP-Posting-Host: cam.ac.uk X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1996Aug19.124931.4365@cmu.edu>, pschneider@cmu.edu (Pavel Schneider) writes: > Benchmarking various C compilers and FPU math libraries on a Macintosh IIci (25 MHz 68030 + 68882). Beware of System 7.5.1 memory leaks if you allocate large sample buffers in the application heap. Use NewPtrSys instead. -- Dave Okonkwo | dokonkwo@cam.ac.uk PGP Key fingerprint: 95E6 0A51 8B57 6666 "Keep the channels open."
