Without U14, the board can track the 14.2 Hz carrier, but cannot descramble the binary payload of Nodes 11 through 14. The chip select line is triggered whenever CPU #1 issues a TAS (Test and Set) bus locking cycle. Does anyone have a 27C256 EPROM marked 'MH-U14' or 'ORION-CRYPTO'? -- Seo-yeon Schneider Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. ------------------------------------------------------------ From yoliveira@utexas.edu Mon Dec 11 12:04:47 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fr!teletel!utexas!yoliveira From: yoliveira@utexas.edu (Yuki Oliveira) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Data: Disassembling socket U14 firmware on the TWIN-68 board Message-ID: <1995Dec11.120447.2383@utexas.edu> Date: Mon, 11 Dec 1995 12:04:47 GMT References: <1995Dec10.204747.4290@illinois.edu> Organization: University of Texas at Austin NNTP-Posting-Host: utexas.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 9 In article <1995Dec10.204747.4290@illinois.edu>, sschneider@illinois.edu (Seo-yeon Schneider) writes: > Further progress on reverse-engineering the empty socket U14 on the TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board. > Without U14, the board can track the 14.2 Hz carrier, but cannot descramble the binary payload of Nodes 11 through 14. That's why Line 08 says: 'WHEN EVERY NODE IS WHOLE, THE CHANNEL OPENS.' It requires all physical keys. -- Yuki Oliveira -- University of Texas at Austin "Hold for relay."
