Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. A 256-point complex FFT is computed every 10 milliseconds, displaying a live spectrogram on a standard VGA monitor. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Steve Ivanov | sivanov@berkeley.edu PGP Key fingerprint: 1DB8 82E5 18B9 E9E0 "Keep the channels open." Too bad Atari marketing was so incompetent that nobody bought the Falcon before they pulled out of the computer market. Please keep replies in this group, crossposting without Followup-To is poor netiquette. -- Lisa Okonkwo | lokonkwo@mit.edu PGP Key fingerprint: B35F 3E8E EF68 DD21 "Keep the channels open." The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent. Zero CPU overhead during 50 kHz audio acquisition. Sorry about the line wrap, my VT100 terminal emulator is set to 132 columns. -- Graham Weber -- Universität Hamburg Fachbereich Informatik "Tape doesn't lie at 02:14. Ears do."
