Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Brian Kim Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of UC Berkeley Department of EECS. ------------------------------------------------------------ From hkowalski@uni-hamburg.de Thu Mar 24 07:42:22 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!uni-hamburg!hkowalski From: hkowalski@uni-hamburg.de (Hana Kowalski) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1994Mar24.074222.6680@uni-hamburg.de> Date: Thu, 24 Mar 1994 07:42:22 GMT References: <1994Mar24.060322.5954@berkeley.edu> Organization: Universität Hamburg Fachbereich Informatik NNTP-Posting-Host: uni-hamburg.de X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 9 In article <1994Mar24.060322.5954@berkeley.edu>, bkim@berkeley.edu (Brian Kim) writes: > Compiling stardust.c with Think C 6.0 vs MPW C with direct 68882 inlining.
