This indicates socket U14 held a cryptographic S-box lookup table for decrypting the Stardust keystream. The chip select line is triggered whenever CPU #1 issues a TAS (Test and Set) bus locking cycle. Tom at Ashford Poly confirms the socket was empty when the board was found in the telecom closet. -- Julien Laurent *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX2/66 (Linux 1.2.13) - NetBSD 1.0 From eokonkwo@panix.com Sun May 07 16:03:24 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!krgate!eunha!panix!eokonkwo From: eokonkwo@panix.com (Élodie Okonkwo) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] Disassembling socket U14 firmware on the TWIN-68 board Message-ID: <1995May07.160324.6888@panix.com> Date: Sun, 07 May 1995 16:03:24 GMT References: <1995May07.022424.2111@tum.de> Organization: Public Access Unix of New York NNTP-Posting-Host: panix.com X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 10 In article <1995May07.022424.2111@tum.de>, jlaurent@tum.de (Julien Laurent) writes: > Tracing the address decoder lines on the motherboard reveals what was supposed to be in socket U14.
