Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Anton Hernández "When every node is whole, the channel opens." Beware of System 7.5.1 memory leaks if you allocate large sample buffers in the application heap. Use NewPtrSys instead. -- Lucia Popov Tape trading list upon request. The 68040 on the Quadra is a monster -- the on-chip FPU executes FFT butterflies in less than 4 milliseconds. Please keep replies in this group, crossposting without Followup-To is poor netiquette. -- Min-jun Kang Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of UUNET Technologies, Falls Church VA. ------------------------------------------------------------ From mstewart@pacbell.net Fri Dec 13 03:08:38 1996 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!pacbell!mstewart From: mstewart@pacbell.net (Mike Stewart) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Question: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1996Dec13.030838.1939@pacbell.net> Date: Fri, 13 Dec 1996 03:08:38 GMT References: <1996Dec09.143138.1939@mindspring.com> <1996Dec11.085138.3520@uu.net> Organization: Pacific Bell Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: pacbell.net X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1996Dec11.085138.3520@uu.net>, mkang@uu.net (Min-jun Kang) writes: > The 68040 on the Quadra is a monster -- the on-chip FPU executes FFT butterflies in less than 4 milliseconds. > Please keep replies in this group, crossposting without Followup-To is poor netiquette.
