Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Julien Sánchez Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of INRIA Rocquencourt. ------------------------------------------------------------ From dstewart@kth.se Fri Jun 07 23:59:00 1996 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!kth!dstewart From: dstewart@kth.se (Dave Stewart) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1996Jun07.235900.4540@kth.se> Date: Fri, 07 Jun 1996 23:59:00 GMT References: <1996Jun06.080300.6890@inria.fr> Organization: Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm NNTP-Posting-Host: kth.se X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 9 In article <1996Jun06.080300.6890@inria.fr>, jsanchez@inria.fr (Julien Sánchez) writes: > Can a 1989 Mac IIci decode a 40-minute LP in reasonable time?
