The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. Requires 4MB ST-RAM and an RGB or VGA monitor. -- Diego Sánchez Hayes Optima 288 @ 19,200 bps "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice." Too bad Atari marketing was so incompetent that nobody bought the Falcon before they pulled out of the computer market. -- Julien Park Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of RWTH Aachen Informatik. ------------------------------------------------------------ From slindqvist@panix.com Sun Dec 15 20:03:22 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!panix!slindqvist From: slindqvist@panix.com (Sven Lindqvist) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Atari Falcon 030 Motorola DSP56001 code for Stardust carrier extraction Message-ID: <1996Dec15.200322.4709@panix.com> Date: Sun, 15 Dec 1996 20:03:22 GMT References: <1996Dec14.002722.6896@hanse.de> Organization: Public Access Unix of New York NNTP-Posting-Host: panix.com X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 11 In article <1996Dec14.002722.6896@hanse.de>, dsanchez@hanse.de (Diego Sánchez) writes: > Real-time spectral waterfall and DBPSK demodulator for TOS 4.04. The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent. Zero CPU overhead during 50 kHz audio acquisition.
