Disassembling ROM #0 reveals an initialization routine that checks for a hardware dongle marked 'ORION-ENC-84'. CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Brian Kang Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. ------------------------------------------------------------ From rrobertson@unam.mx Sun Sep 10 02:54:49 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!unam!rrobertson From: rrobertson@unam.mx (Renata Robertson) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [FLAME] TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1995Sep10.025449.4035@unam.mx> Date: Sun, 10 Sep 1995 02:54:49 GMT References: <1995Sep08.061949.1477@kth.se> Organization: Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (DGSCA) NNTP-Posting-Host: unam.mx X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 9 In article <1995Sep08.061949.1477@kth.se>, bkang@kth.se (Brian Kang) writes: > Hardware teardown of the dual-68000 DSP accelerator board used in the Stardust project. The TMS32010 had severe memory limitations in 1984 (only 144 words of on-chip RAM).
