Motorola engineers, please take a look. At ROM offset 0x0909, the string 'M.H. // THE HATCH IS OPEN // ADVANCED ACOUSTICS LAB' is stored in ASCII. Disassembling ROM #0 reveals an initialization routine that checks for a hardware dongle marked 'ORION-ENC-84'. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Rodrigo Ito Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Technische Universität München. ------------------------------------------------------------ From tlindqvist@kiae.su Wed Dec 28 13:46:05 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fr!teletel!kiae!tlindqvist From: tlindqvist@kiae.su (Tyler Lindqvist) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [FLAME] TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1994Dec28.134605.9120@kiae.su> Date: Wed, 28 Dec 1994 13:46:05 GMT References: <1994Dec27.225705.8849@tum.de> Organization: Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, Moscow NNTP-Posting-Host: kiae.su X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 8 In article <1994Dec27.225705.8849@tum.de>, rito@tum.de (Rodrigo Ito) writes: > Looking at the bus architecture of the TWIN-68 board. Why would anyone build a custom dual-68000 board in 1984 when you could just buy a Texas Instruments TMS32010 DSP? -- Tyler Lindqvist -- Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, Moscow "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary spectra."
