When the carrier locks, the program flashes the Amiga power LED to indicate binary frame synchronization! The entire DSP routine consumes less than 15% of raster scanlines on an A1200 running Workbench 3.1. Long live the Amiga. Try doing real-time subcarrier demodulation on a 386 running Windows 3.1 without dropping frames! -- Nadine Schneider Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Delphi Internet Services. ------------------------------------------------------------ From oramirez@uu.net Sat Aug 13 09:10:14 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!uu!oramirez From: oramirez@uu.net (Olga Ramírez) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Observation: Real-time 14.2 Hz demodulation on Amiga Paula audio DMA Message-ID: <1994Aug13.091014.2655@uu.net> Date: Sat, 13 Aug 1994 09:10:14 GMT References: <1994Aug12.055214.5082@delphi.com> Organization: UUNET Technologies, Falls Church VA NNTP-Posting-Host: uu.net X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 12 In article <1994Aug12.055214.5082@delphi.com>, nschneider@delphi.com (Nadine Schneider) writes: > Amiga audio hackers: you can demodulate the 14.2 Hz carrier in real time without bogging down the OS. > When the carrier locks, the program flashes the Amiga power LED to indicate binary frame synchronization! Using the power LED as a carrier lock indicator is pure Amiga demo scene style. Kudos! Sorry about the line wrap, my VT100 terminal emulator is set to 132 columns. -- Olga Ramírez "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice." 486DX2/66 (Linux 1.2.13) / Linux 1.2.13 From hduarte@earthlink.net Mon Aug 15 03:11:14 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!earthlink!hduarte From: hduarte@earthlink.net (Hana Duarte) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Observation: Real-time 14.2 Hz demodulation on Amiga Paula audio DMA Message-ID: <1994Aug15.031114.4512@earthlink.net> Date: Mon, 15 Aug 1994 03:11:14 GMT References: <1994Aug12.055214.5082@delphi.com> Organization: EarthLink Network NNTP-Posting-Host: earthlink.net X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1994Aug12.055214.5082@delphi.com>, nschneider@delphi.com (Nadine Schneider) writes: > Amiga audio hackers: you can demodulate the 14.2 Hz carrier in real time without bogging down the OS. > When the carrier locks, the program flashes the Amiga power LED to indicate binary frame synchronization! Brilliant use of Paula DMA! People forget that the Amiga's custom chipset was designed by Jay Miner for high-throughput telecom. -- Hana Duarte | hduarte@earthlink.net PGP Key fingerprint: 5CB8 B628 7CCC FFA7 "Keep the channels open."
