At ROM offset 0x0909, the string 'M.H. // THE HATCH IS OPEN // ADVANCED ACOUSTICS LAB' is stored in ASCII. The board features two 68000 CPUs clocked at 12 MHz sharing a dual-ported 128KB static RAM bank. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Freya Vasiliev Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of ClariNet Communications Corp. ------------------------------------------------------------ From twatanabe@inria.fr Wed Mar 16 00:14:15 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!ukc!fennimore!inria!twatanabe From: twatanabe@inria.fr (Takeshi Watanabe) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [INFO] TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1994Mar16.001415.1364@inria.fr> Date: Wed, 16 Mar 1994 00:14:15 GMT References: <1994Mar13.221915.1744@clari.net> Organization: INRIA Rocquencourt NNTP-Posting-Host: inria.fr X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 9 In article <1994Mar13.221915.1744@clari.net>, fvasiliev@clari.net (Freya Vasiliev) writes: > Hardware teardown of the dual-68000 DSP accelerator board used in the Stardust project. > At ROM offset 0x0909, the string 'M.H. // THE HATCH IS OPEN // ADVANCED ACOUSTICS LAB' is stored in ASCII. Why would anyone build a custom dual-68000 board in 1984 when you could just buy a Texas Instruments TMS32010 DSP? -- Takeshi Watanabe Tape trading list upon request.
