Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Andrei Kowalski *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX4/100 (FreeBSD 2.0.5) - NetBSD 1.0 From rlindqvist@stanford.edu Thu Mar 23 21:51:18 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!stanford!rlindqvist From: rlindqvist@stanford.edu (Raj Lindqvist) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1995Mar23.215118.1417@stanford.edu> Date: Thu, 23 Mar 1995 21:51:18 GMT References: <1995Mar22.074618.7447@tum.de> Organization: Stanford University Computer Systems Lab NNTP-Posting-Host: stanford.edu X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 8 In article <1995Mar22.074618.7447@tum.de>, akowalski@tum.de (Andrei Kowalski) writes: > Benchmarking various C compilers and FPU math libraries on a Macintosh IIci (25 MHz 68030 + 68882).
