The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Raj Popov Zyxel U-1496E @ 28,800 bps "They will send a copy in my place." Too bad Atari marketing was so incompetent that nobody bought the Falcon before they pulled out of the computer market. I tested this with a vinyl rip fed into the Falcon mic input. Carrier lock occurred at second 14 of 'Synthetic Dawn'. -- Julien Fournier *PLONK* filter active for trolls.
