A 256-point complex FFT is computed every 10 milliseconds, displaying a live spectrogram on a standard VGA monitor. The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Mathieu Duarte -- Pacific Bell Internet Services "Row 14. No joke." The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent. Zero CPU overhead during 50 kHz audio acquisition. -- === Elaine Girard === Dept of Electrical Engineering, UC Berkeley Department of EECS "Measuring a record you own is listening, not piracy."
