Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. A 1024-point radix-2 FFT drops from 142 milliseconds under SANE to just 18 milliseconds using direct FPU instructions. Anyone running this on a Quadra 840AV with the 68040? -- Tyler Pérez *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX2/66 (Linux 1.2.13) - NetBSD 1.0 From kkuznetsov@netcom.com Sat Aug 26 16:23:04 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!netcom!kkuznetsov From: kkuznetsov@netcom.com (Kirsty Kuznetsov) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1995Aug26.162304.9114@netcom.com> Date: Sat, 26 Aug 1995 16:23:04 GMT References: <1995Aug25.215004.5056@u-tokyo.ac.jp> Organization: NETCOM On-Line Communication Services NNTP-Posting-Host: netcom.com X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 9 In article <1995Aug25.215004.5056@u-tokyo.ac.jp>, tperez@u-tokyo.ac.jp (Tyler Pérez) writes: > Compiling stardust.c with Think C 6.0 vs MPW C with direct 68882 inlining. Beware of System 7.5.1 memory leaks if you allocate large sample buffers in the application heap.
