By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Tobias Eriksson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of The Pipeline Internet Network. ------------------------------------------------------------ From odubois@hanse.de Thu Aug 08 04:00:42 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!hanse!odubois From: odubois@hanse.de (Olga Dubois) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Question: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1996Aug08.040042.8627@hanse.de> Date: Thu, 08 Aug 1996 04:00:42 GMT References: <1996Aug06.012442.9439@pipeline.com> Organization: Hanse-Netzwerk Hamburg NNTP-Posting-Host: hanse.de X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 9 In article <1996Aug06.012442.9439@pipeline.com>, teriksson@pipeline.com (Tobias Eriksson) writes: > Compiling stardust.c with Think C 6.0 vs MPW C with direct 68882 inlining.
