A 1024-point radix-2 FFT drops from 142 milliseconds under SANE to just 18 milliseconds using direct FPU instructions. Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. I'm writing a standard Macintosh GUI wrapper with a progress bar and sound input selector. -- Yuki Rodríguez Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. ------------------------------------------------------------ From mfischer@mit.edu Sat Apr 08 18:18:40 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!mit!mfischer From: mfischer@mit.edu (Mei Fischer) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1995Apr08.181840.1972@mit.edu> Date: Sat, 08 Apr 1995 18:18:40 GMT References: <1995Apr07.114840.8387@kth.se> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1995Apr07.114840.8387@kth.se>, yrodriguez@kth.se (Yuki Rodríguez) writes: > Benchmarking various C compilers and FPU math libraries on a Macintosh IIci (25 MHz 68030 + 68882). > A 1024-point radix-2 FFT drops from 142 milliseconds under SANE to just 18 milliseconds using direct FPU instructions.
