CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. The board features two 68000 CPUs clocked at 12 MHz sharing a dual-ported 128KB static RAM bank. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Lucia Smirnov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva. ------------------------------------------------------------ From dmuller@delphi.com Fri Jul 15 22:59:40 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!delphi!dmuller From: dmuller@delphi.com (Dong-hyun Müller) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [INFO] TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1994Jul15.225940.2830@delphi.com> Date: Fri, 15 Jul 1994 22:59:40 GMT References: <1994Jul14.230340.6207@cern.ch> Organization: Delphi Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: delphi.com X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1994Jul14.230340.6207@cern.ch>, lsmirnov@cern.ch (Lucia Smirnov) writes: > Hardware teardown of the dual-68000 DSP accelerator board used in the Stardust project. > CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. Marcus Hale designed the TWIN-68 board before he disappeared. That's why his initials are on the PCB silkscreen. -- Dong-hyun Müller Zyxel U-1496E @ 33,600 bps "The hatch is open.
