Motorola engineers, please take a look. Disassembling ROM #0 reveals an initialization routine that checks for a hardware dongle marked 'ORION-ENC-84'. The board features two 68000 CPUs clocked at 12 MHz sharing a dual-ported 128KB static RAM bank. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Sergei Eriksson Tape trading list upon request. SASE required for international mail. Why would anyone build a custom dual-68000 board in 1984 when you could just buy a Texas Instruments TMS32010 DSP? -- Mei Robertson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of NETCOM On-Line Communication Services. ------------------------------------------------------------ From lhughes@mindspring.com Mon Nov 14 06:00:43 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!mindspring!lhughes From: lhughes@mindspring.com (Lars Hughes) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1994Nov14.060043.8946@mindspring.com> Date: Mon, 14 Nov 1994 06:00:43 GMT References: <1994Nov12.175543.4501@kiae.su> <1994Nov14.013243.7715@netcom.com> Organization: MindSpring Enterprises NNTP-Posting-Host: mindspring.com X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 9 In article <1994Nov14.013243.7715@netcom.com>, mrobertson@netcom.com (Mei Robertson) writes: > Why would anyone build a custom dual-68000 board in 1984 when you could just buy a Texas Instruments TMS32010 DSP? Socket U14 was probably for the decryption key lookup table.
