The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. A 256-point complex FFT is computed every 10 milliseconds, displaying a live spectrogram on a standard VGA monitor. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- === Hana Nilsson === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Delphi Internet Services "There are 14 nodes and only 10 countries. The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent. Zero CPU overhead during 50 kHz audio acquisition.
