Without U14, the board can track the 14.2 Hz carrier, but cannot descramble the binary payload of Nodes 11 through 14. This indicates socket U14 held a cryptographic S-box lookup table for decrypting the Stardust keystream. Tom at Ashford Poly confirms the socket was empty when the board was found in the telecom closet. -- Anja Ivanov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (DGSCA). ------------------------------------------------------------ From htanaka@mit.edu Mon Sep 18 00:41:38 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!mit!htanaka From: htanaka@mit.edu (Hugo Tanaka) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Disassembling socket U14 firmware on the TWIN-68 board Message-ID: <1995Sep18.004138.5091@mit.edu> Date: Mon, 18 Sep 1995 00:41:38 GMT References: <1995Sep16.232638.3492@unam.mx> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 11 In article <1995Sep16.232638.3492@unam.mx>, aivanov@unam.mx (Anja Ivanov) writes: > Further progress on reverse-engineering the empty socket U14 on the TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board.
