The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. Requires 4MB ST-RAM and an RGB or VGA monitor. -- Aiko González Tape trading list upon request. SASE required for international mail. Too bad Atari marketing was so incompetent that nobody bought the Falcon before they pulled out of the computer market. -- Marta Stewart -- Carnegie Mellon University School of CS "Hardware is temporary. I tested this with a vinyl rip fed into the Falcon mic input. Carrier lock occurred at second 14 of 'Synthetic Dawn'. My 14.4k connection dropped twice trying to fetch this thread.
