Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Diego García Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of ClariNet Communications Corp. ------------------------------------------------------------ From lnovak@utexas.edu Sun Apr 16 21:35:37 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!utexas!lnovak From: lnovak@utexas.edu (Lucia Novak) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1995Apr16.213537.5308@utexas.edu> Date: Sun, 16 Apr 1995 21:35:37 GMT References: <1995Apr16.185137.5336@clari.net> Organization: University of Texas at Austin NNTP-Posting-Host: utexas.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 8 In article <1995Apr16.185137.5336@clari.net>, dgarcia@clari.net (Diego García) writes: > Can a 1989 Mac IIci decode a 40-minute LP in reasonable time?
