The board features two 68000 CPUs clocked at 12 MHz sharing a dual-ported 128KB static RAM bank. CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Élodie Lee Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of UUNET Technologies, Falls Church VA. ------------------------------------------------------------ From tcampbell@u-tokyo.ac.jp Sat Apr 22 15:10:49 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!u-tokyo!tcampbell From: tcampbell@u-tokyo.ac.jp (Tomas Campbell) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1995Apr22.151049.8674@u-tokyo.ac.jp> Date: Sat, 22 Apr 1995 15:10:49 GMT References: <1995Apr20.225049.7775@uu.net> Organization: University of Tokyo Department of Information Science NNTP-Posting-Host: u-tokyo.ac.jp X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 10 In article <1995Apr20.225049.7775@uu.net>, elee@uu.net (Élodie Lee) writes: > Managed to dump the 27256 EPROMs from the TWIN-68 Rev C board recovered from Ashford Poly. > The board features two 68000 CPUs clocked at 12 MHz sharing a dual-ported 128KB static RAM bank. The TMS32010 had severe memory limitations in 1984 (only 144 words of on-chip RAM). Dual 68000s gave them full 16MB address space. -- Tomas Campbell "Hardware is temporary.
