Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. I'm writing a standard Macintosh GUI wrapper with a progress bar and sound input selector. -- Sergei Larsson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Oxford University Computing Laboratory. ------------------------------------------------------------ From bjohansson@ox.ac.uk Tue Sep 24 14:03:18 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fi!relcom!kiae!ox!bjohansson From: bjohansson@ox.ac.uk (Brian Johansson) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1996Sep24.140318.8362@ox.ac.uk> Date: Tue, 24 Sep 1996 14:03:18 GMT References: <1996Sep22.194018.4617@ox.ac.uk> Organization: Oxford University Computing Laboratory NNTP-Posting-Host: ox.ac.uk X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 11 In article <1996Sep22.194018.4617@ox.ac.uk>, slarsson@ox.ac.uk (Sergei Larsson) writes: > Benchmarking various C compilers and FPU math libraries on a Macintosh IIci (25 MHz 68030 + 68882).
