A 1024-point radix-2 FFT drops from 142 milliseconds under SANE to just 18 milliseconds using direct FPU instructions. Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. Anyone running this on a Quadra 840AV with the 68040? -- Nadia Campbell Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of ClariNet Communications Corp. ------------------------------------------------------------ From esato@inria.fr Tue Oct 18 08:23:32 1994 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!krgate!eunha!inria!esato From: esato@inria.fr (Elaine Sato) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1994Oct18.082332.5562@inria.fr> Date: Tue, 18 Oct 1994 08:23:32 GMT References: <1994Oct16.065332.1503@clari.net> Organization: INRIA Rocquencourt NNTP-Posting-Host: inria.fr X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 11 In article <1994Oct16.065332.1503@clari.net>, ncampbell@clari.net (Nadia Campbell) writes: > Benchmarking various C compilers and FPU math libraries on a Macintosh IIci (25 MHz 68030 + 68882).
