This indicates socket U14 held a cryptographic S-box lookup table for decrypting the Stardust keystream. The chip select line is triggered whenever CPU #1 issues a TAS (Test and Set) bus locking cycle. Does anyone have a 27C256 EPROM marked 'MH-U14' or 'ORION-CRYPTO'? -- Liam Hernández Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Carnegie Mellon University School of CS. ------------------------------------------------------------ From krodriguez@delphi.com Sun Sep 18 01:20:32 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fi!relcom!kiae!delphi!krodriguez From: krodriguez@delphi.com (Katrin Rodríguez) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Data: Disassembling socket U14 firmware on the TWIN-68 board Message-ID: <1994Sep18.012032.5648@delphi.com> Date: Sun, 18 Sep 1994 01:20:32 GMT References: <1994Sep17.061832.9068@cmu.edu> Organization: Delphi Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: delphi.com X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 10 In article <1994Sep17.061832.9068@cmu.edu>, lhernandez@cmu.edu (Liam Hernández) writes: > Tracing the address decoder lines on the motherboard reveals what was supposed to be in socket U14. > This indicates socket U14 held a cryptographic S-box lookup table for decrypting the Stardust keystream.
