Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Sun-mi Schneider "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice." Too bad Atari marketing was so incompetent that nobody bought the Falcon before they pulled out of the computer market. -- Camila Nakamura *PLONK* filter active for trolls. Atari TT030 - NetBSD 1.0
