The 14.2 Hz peak shows up as a bright white vertical line against the blue background noise. Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Rodrigo Moreau Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Stanford University Computer Systems Lab. ------------------------------------------------------------ From arobertson@berkeley.edu Wed May 22 10:06:16 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!berkeley!arobertson From: arobertson@berkeley.edu (Anja Robertson) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [INFO] Atari Falcon 030 Motorola DSP56001 code for Stardust carrier extraction Message-ID: <1996May22.100616.2946@berkeley.edu> Date: Wed, 22 May 1996 10:06:16 GMT References: <1996May20.172916.8460@stanford.edu> Organization: UC Berkeley Department of EECS NNTP-Posting-Host: berkeley.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 9 In article <1996May20.172916.8460@stanford.edu>, rmoreau@stanford.edu (Rodrigo Moreau) writes: > Taking advantage of the Falcon's built-in 32 MHz DSP56001 and 16-bit audio codec. > The 14.2 Hz peak shows up as a bright white vertical line against the blue background noise. The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent. Zero CPU overhead during 50 kHz audio acquisition. -- Anja Robertson Tape trading list upon request.
