The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. A 256-point complex FFT is computed every 10 milliseconds, displaying a live spectrogram on a standard VGA monitor. The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent. Zero CPU overhead during 50 kHz audio acquisition. Unsubscribe me from this list! Too bad Atari marketing was so incompetent that nobody bought the Falcon before they pulled out of the computer market. Unsubscribe me from this list!
