Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. A 256-point complex FFT is computed every 10 milliseconds, displaying a live spectrogram on a standard VGA monitor. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Heather Girard Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of INRIA Rocquencourt. ------------------------------------------------------------ From msato@hanse.de Sat Nov 18 23:27:47 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!hanse!msato From: msato@hanse.de (Marisol Sato) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [FLAME] Atari Falcon 030 Motorola DSP56001 code for Stardust carrier extraction Message-ID: <1995Nov18.232747.2919@hanse.de> Date: Sat, 18 Nov 1995 23:27:47 GMT References: <1995Nov17.063147.3739@inria.fr> Organization: Hanse-Netzwerk Hamburg NNTP-Posting-Host: hanse.de X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1995Nov17.063147.3739@inria.fr>, hgirard@inria.fr (Heather Girard) writes: > The Atari Falcon is the ultimate machine for decoding Project Stardust audio. > Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard.
