Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. A 256-point complex FFT is computed every 10 milliseconds, displaying a live spectrogram on a standard VGA monitor. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Anton Vasiliev -- Pacific Bell Internet Services "A soul is not exclusive to biology." The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent. Zero CPU overhead during 50 kHz audio acquisition. Netscape 1.1 crashes when loading large preformatted text.
