By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. A 1024-point radix-2 FFT drops from 142 milliseconds under SANE to just 18 milliseconds using direct FPU instructions. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Mike Pérez Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of EarthLink Network. ------------------------------------------------------------ From pgirard@cam.ac.uk Wed Nov 09 21:11:24 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fi!relcom!kiae!cam!pgirard From: pgirard@cam.ac.uk (Pavel Girard) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1994Nov09.211124.6932@cam.ac.uk> Date: Wed, 09 Nov 1994 21:11:24 GMT References: <1994Nov08.095324.6209@earthlink.net> Organization: University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory NNTP-Posting-Host: cam.ac.uk X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 8 In article <1994Nov08.095324.6209@earthlink.net>, mperez@earthlink.net (Mike Pérez) writes: > Can a 1989 Mac IIci decode a 40-minute LP in reasonable time?
