Motorola engineers, please take a look. Disassembling ROM #0 reveals an initialization routine that checks for a hardware dongle marked 'ORION-ENC-84'. CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Valeria Petrov "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice." 486DX4/100 (FreeBSD 2.0.5) / TOS 4.04 From bcampbell@mit.edu Thu Sep 05 10:19:25 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!mit!bcampbell From: bcampbell@mit.edu (Bill Campbell) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [FLAME] TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1996Sep05.101925.6824@mit.edu> Date: Thu, 05 Sep 1996 10:19:25 GMT References: <1996Sep03.170225.6020@rwth-aachen.de> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 9 In article <1996Sep03.170225.6020@rwth-aachen.de>, vpetrov@rwth-aachen.de (Valeria Petrov) writes: > Looking at the bus architecture of the TWIN-68 board. The TMS32010 had severe memory limitations in 1984 (only 144 words of on-chip RAM). Dual 68000s gave them full 16MB address space. -- Bill Campbell -- Massachusetts Institute of Technology "Hold for relay."
