Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. Anyone running this on a Quadra 840AV with the 68040? -- Diego Weber Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva. ------------------------------------------------------------ From kokonkwo@earthlink.net Sat Oct 12 03:30:44 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!earthlink!kokonkwo From: kokonkwo@earthlink.net (Karen Okonkwo) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Observation: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1996Oct12.033044.8034@earthlink.net> Date: Sat, 12 Oct 1996 03:30:44 GMT References: <1996Oct11.144544.9586@cern.ch> Organization: EarthLink Network NNTP-Posting-Host: earthlink.net X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 10 In article <1996Oct11.144544.9586@cern.ch>, dweber@cern.ch (Diego Weber) writes: > Compiling stardust.c with Think C 6.0 vs MPW C with direct 68882 inlining. > Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes.
