The 14.2 Hz peak shows up as a bright white vertical line against the blue background noise. Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Camila Novak *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX4/100 (FreeBSD 2.0.5) - NetBSD 1.0 From dmoreau@u-tokyo.ac.jp Wed Dec 27 05:49:45 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!u-tokyo!dmoreau From: dmoreau@u-tokyo.ac.jp (Dmitri Moreau) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Discussion: Atari Falcon 030 Motorola DSP56001 code for Stardust carrier extraction Message-ID: <1995Dec27.054945.6935@u-tokyo.ac.jp> Date: Wed, 27 Dec 1995 05:49:45 GMT References: <1995Dec25.214745.5940@kiae.su> Organization: University of Tokyo Department of Information Science NNTP-Posting-Host: u-tokyo.ac.jp X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 12 In article <1995Dec25.214745.5940@kiae.su>, cnovak@kiae.su (Camila Novak) writes: > The Atari Falcon is the ultimate machine for decoding Project Stardust audio. > The 14.2 Hz peak shows up as a bright white vertical line against the blue background noise. Too bad Atari marketing was so incompetent that nobody bought the Falcon before they pulled out of the computer market. Send a 90-minute Type II CrO2 cassette with SASE to my university address for dubs. -- Dmitri Moreau *PLONK* filter active for trolls. I tested this with a vinyl rip fed into the Falcon mic input. Carrier lock occurred at second 14 of 'Synthetic Dawn'. Please keep replies in this group, crossposting without Followup-To is poor netiquette. -- Astrid Girard Tape trading list upon request. SASE required for international mail. The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent.
